Understand The Past - Inspire The Future

Welcome to Pioneer Village Kaikohe

Our region is the home of Ngapuhi, the the largest Iwi in New Zealand, with over 500 years of continuous occupancy. It is the earliest area of Maori /European interaction dating from well before the Treaty of Waitangi.

Kaikohe is the home of Hone Heke Pokai and Okaihau 14 km away  of Tamati Waaka Nene.

It was one of the centers of Kauri logging & Kauri gum digging so we have collections of Maori Taonga, Engines, Tractors, Kauri Gum, Vehicles, Logging and Saw milling equipment, Vintage buildings, and much more.
